Everybody Has One

Each year I attempt to think of a way to commemorate the season with a special ornament.  In the past I would make a set of ornaments depicting themes.  When my children got older I would have them write their names on an ornament.  If friends visited our home over the holidays then they would participate by decorating an ornament as well.  As I put these on the tree each year it brings back special memories.

Last year I decided to start a tradition that included each of our guests at Thanksgiving.  After filling them up with yummy food they had to sign an ornament and decorate it in some way with a gold paint pen.  Some got very creative and believe it or not a dog actually "signed" an ornament.....well his owner helped a little! :-)

This year I tried to think of a different twist.  How about each person signing their name and then including their favorite song.  I was pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm they seemed to have over the idea!  Everybody has a special song!  Music speaks to the heart in so many ways.  The songs ranged from classical to pop and everything in between.  Several guests choose hymns.  Julie Andrews was mentioned along with Cool and The Gang!

I used clear glass balls for the ornaments.  They signed the balls with a Sharpie marker.  Next I cut up the sheet music representing each song and put the strips into the balls.  A big red bow completed the project!

They really look great on my movie room tree!  The theme for the tree is music so it really couldn't be better.
