What Do You See?

What do you see?  A bag of old ties is what you should see.  I have been collecting ties from various members of my family for years.  My ultimate goal is to create a quilt using these treasures.  Many of the ties  represent memories to me.  One of the most special ties in my collection belonged to my husband's grandfather.  My husband, uncle, father, son, brother, father-in-law, and son-in-law will all have a special place in the final quilt.  I still have some collecting to do, but in the mean time I am using just a few of my treasures for some fun accessories for me!

Thanks to this pattern by Indygo Junction,  I have something to brighten up my winter wardrobe.

I just love my new flower.  I think it will be just the thing to brighten up my dark grey jacket.  My husband actually wore this tie with a pink shirt on Easter many years ago.  He had to match the pink that my daughter and I had on! :-)

The word is out and I continue to receive ties from family members.  My Dad actually gave me a sack full at Christmas.  I'll certainly let you know when the quilt is started and we can all celebrate when the completed quilt is revealed. In the mean time I will enjoy my "rose".  I like what I see! :-)  Blessings!

  2. That's a cute flower and an even cuter idea to make a quilt. Hope you get enough ties soon!

  3. Love it! No one would ever know it had a previous life. I think it's great when you can reuse something. We had a family member press and sew together ties to make a really great Christmas tree skirt Ties came from as many family members as possible and their names were put on the inside of the tie. It made a nice keepsake.
