My Favorite Christmas Song

I love music and I especially love Christmas music. When I do my Christmas baking the Messiah is usually playing in the background. Music has always been a huge part of my life. One song touches me in a special way each Christmas season. Angels Among Us, sung by Alabama, is that special song. I think the message is so true and there have been many times in my life when I have truly felt that angels were right there with me, guiding me along the way and at times carrying me. There are many videos depicting this song. I wanted to share this one with you. Enjoy!

Blessings today and during this holiday season!

It's Snowing.......In My Dining Room!

It's snowing, not outside but in my Dining Room! Snowflakes seem to be everywhere this year and my Dining Room is no exception. The thing I love about anything related to snow (snowflakes, snowmen) is that they can be used right up until Spring.

My inspiration actually started when I spotted this ornament at Michael's. It complimented the colors of my room and for some reason it reminded me of a snowy day. Once I had these I just started pulling objects from throughout my house that would help me create a "Snowy" Christmas table.

It came together quickly and I love the result. I used several items of antique silver. Each place setting has a small wrapped package. Is is real!? I guess only Santa knows! :-)

My favorite touch is the "snow tree" created with branches from my yard spray painted white and sprinkled with just a touch of white glitter.

Next up.....gingerbread cookies shaped like snowflakes for each place setting. I found this cookie cutter set at Williams Sonoma and I can't wait to get started.

How about you? Is is snowing in your house this Christmas?

Finally!

Finally can have several different meanings in this post. The most obvious being that I am finally writing a post after almost 3 months. Life got in the way. Between my new job, the
holidays and various remodeling projects......well you know all the excuses. I am going to try to do better. I miss writing down all my thoughts and keeping up with all of you! Things are going well and I plan to update you on everything in the days ahead.

The real meaning of the word finally is that I finally found something I have wanted for a very
long time. A winter rose poinsettia! Over 10 years ago I saw several of these at a dear friend's
home. She had SEVERAL in her kitchen at Christmas and I thought they were just beautiful!
I am not a huge fan of the traditional poinsettia but these really caught my eye. I began my search for one of these plants and found them to be very expensive. Not something I could really justify knowing that I would probably kill it quickly! :-) I even left a space on my fireplace mantel this year hoping to find the perfect poinsettia just in time for Christmas.

I had really given up my hopes of ever having one of my very own. I hadn't even seen them in
several years. Last week I walked into Walmart.....Yes I said Walmart! There they were! A table full of winter rose poinsettias and only $7! Yes the traditional poinsettias were only $3
but I decided to splurge and go for my fav! I love it! Your eyes aren't deceiving you. There is just a touch of glitter on the flowers. I added a big gold bow and now my mantel is complete and ready for Christmas! Have a wonderful day and I promise to be back SOON!
