Hopeful Planting

For the past week Mr. DD and I have been working at a feverish pace attempting to get our garden planted. This year we are trying several new things.....an experiment so to speak. Five different types of tomatoes, six varieties of pepper, french radishes, two types of beans, ornamental gourds, watermelon, sweet potatoes......and the list goes on and on. Needless to say, I haven't had to workout with my weights this week! Carrying water and rolling the wheelbarrow have more than made up for any gym time! :-) In between planting we have also tried to get the yard in shape. New flowers, trimming shrubs, and creating walk ways are just a few of the chores we have tackled.

By the end of the day I am hopeful that all the shrubbery will be trimmed and that a new garden swing will be in place. Maybe I can sit down and just swing tonight?!

It is supposed to rain over the weekend. I know all of my new plants will be happy to have a drink of water and I will be happy to have an excuse to rest! :-) How about you? Are you doing any "hopeful planting"? I am "hoping" that we all have a bountiful harvest this Summer. Can't wait to taste some of those homegrown tomatoes! :-)

  2. I had hoped to do some planting this weekend but it is raining, so it will have to wait.

    Good luck with your garden!

  3. Good luck with your planting!! :)

Yes, I planted most of my garden in mid-April and everything is growing well. I got the rest of the seeds in at the end of April, and so far I have peas, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, summer squash, cucumbers, herbs, and watermelons growing well. More to still plant - mostly planter items, but this weekend the weather was horrible here. We don't need any rain in this area - it literally could dry out for about a month and that would be great. But unfortunately, we got more rain this weekend.

Hopefully you have great success in your gardening.

  4. I can't believe your energy!
But I guess the memory of your sweet tomatoes is a great inspiration. At least that would be for me.

    How is the swing?

  5. I, too, have been planting/cleaning up gardens all day--flowers. It felt great to get outside before 7am. I got a lot done, but still have a ton to do.

I hope you are resting on that garden swing!
