Draw What You See?!

In my attempt to broaden my horizons, I am taking a drawing class along with my computer classes. The class description said that any one can learn to draw. Like many people I have always wanted to expand beyond the basic stick figures and geometric designs. So I signed up. So far I have had three classes. It has pushed me beyond what I thought my limits were and is actually fun. Very time consuming but fun!

The one thing that I hear constantly in class is, "Just draw what you see". Sometimes it seems that the instructor and I have different eyes. He "sees" one thing and I "see" another. I am sure that at some point our eyes will adjust to each other! :-)

The excitement I feel is not just for the art work in my future but also for the ways I can apply what I am learning to other areas. Quilting, embroidery designs, and even clothing designs......my mind is racing right now.

Draw what you see! My eyes are adjusting and the ideas are swirling.....can't wait to "see" what the future holds!

  1. That's how I've always drawn and I love it. Looks like you're doing wonderfully and I'm sure the possibilities are endless. Enjoy! :)

  2. Love hearing your experience with drawing class has been a good one! I've been trying to decide between taking a painting or drawing class and was a little unsure about drawing because my drawing right now is pretty much limited to geometric patterns/shapes. Maybe I'll give drawing a try...

  3. I'm alway amazed when I hear about others broading their "horizons" with ideas that are hard or don't come easy for them. Drawing is one such thing.
To draw what you see, just seems impossible. I can see it but not draw it.
Good for you. Keep up the adventures.
