Hugs For Soldiers

I feel very blessed to have many friends who share my interest in sewing. One of the groups that I meet with every month is constantly coming up with new and unique ways to help those in need. The ladies amaze me with their giving attitudes and inspire me to participate in any way I can.

Our recent project was making quilts for injured soldiers. When they are transported from the battlefield to the field hospital, quilts were needed for warmth and comfort. They are the size of the gurney....48 x 78 inches. We made 16 quilts as a group and they should be on there way to those in need this week.

If you would like to "hug a soldier" there are many ways to participate. Our contributions were done through the group Citizen Sam. You will find more information HERE. There are many groups who do wonderful things to show gratitude to our service men and women. Perhaps we can all come together and do our small part to let them know that the sacrifices they make everyday are appreciated. Hopefully the injured soldiers will feel the comfort and indeed the hugs that are sent along with the quilts.

  3. What a great project for such a worthwhile cause. I don't quilt, but I'm going to check out the link to see if there's some other way to get involved.

  4. I don't quilt either but bless you and the rest of the ladies who work so hard.
I love this idea. If my son were over there and had to be transported to a hospital, it would tickle me pink knowing loving hands had made a quilt to keep him warm.
    Thank you ladies!
