Are you willing to admit that you were up to watch the Royal Wedding? I was up bright and early! Almost 30 years ago I was one of the faithful who witnessed Diana's wedding on July 29, 1981. My husband and I were married only one month later so I was extremely interested in the details. My flower girl was ecstatic about participating in my wedding after watching Princess Di's festivities. Friday morning brought both joy and a tinge of sadness for me. I of course was so happy for the young couple but also sad that William's Mom wasn't there to see the joy on her son's face.
Like most women, the fashions were what caught my eye. It goes without saying that the dress was just lovely. So classy and elegant! About a year ago I was able to see Diana's gown and I believe Kate's just might have been even better! The hats were just incredible! I am hoping that perhaps hats will come back in vogue thanks to the British!
Mr. DD and I enjoyed English Breakfast Tea and cranberry orange scones during the event. Yes I said my dear hubby joined in the celebration. I think the scones might have helped to lure him in. Or perhaps it was because we are at the beach and he had no where to escape. Whatever the cause he said that he enjoyed it!
Did you watch? If not, you certainly missed something. My hubby and I now have set a goal. We both want to witness the weddings of all the children of William and Kate! I must be sure to have some of the cranberry orange scones ready! :-)
I missed the original as I did not get up in time, but did watch reruns. her gown was beautiful. I did not care for Diana's at all - to much fabric and ended up looking wrinkled. I sure hope the government keeps the paparazzi controlled.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening.
I was at 4-H camp when Diana and Charles were married and I still regret to this day that I didn't see it. I only saw a wee bit of the coverage of this wedding because of work. Her dress was lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch it in full, but saw parts of it after the fact, and it was indeed a fascinating, beautiful event. They're a gorgeous, yet down-to-earth couple and I wish them every happiness.
I was right there with you!
ReplyDeleteThrilled with the whole event, especially with the second kiss.
Couldn't believe the crowds and how much fun they were having. Just wished I could have been there.
(Yes, I watched Dianna's wedding. I was up nursing my baby.)
Me too!! I was 12. My mom got me up early before she went to work and I watched it all morning. I even remember going to softball practice and watching it all over the news again that night. I wasn't about to miss this one. I wasn't disappointed. Forever a romantic...
ReplyDeleteI was on a quilting retreat but caught a glimpse of the balcony kiss at Buckingham Palace. Kate's dress was gorgeous!
